Guide: Save Microsoft Edge Bookmarks and Import to a New Browser

Part 1 – Export Bookmarks from Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge

    • Launch Edge on your computer.

  2. Go to Favorites Settings

    • Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner.

    • Select Favorites → click the three-dot menu in the Favorites menu → choose Export favorites.

  3. Save the Export File

    • Choose a location (e.g., Desktop or Downloads).

    • The file will be saved as an HTML file (e.g., favorites.html).

Part 2 – Import Bookmarks to a New Browser

A. Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner → BookmarksImport Bookmarks and Settings.

  3. From the dropdown, choose Bookmarks HTML File.

  4. Click Choose File, select your exported Edge favorites.html, and click Open.

B. Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+B (or click the Library icon → Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks).

  3. Click Import and BackupImport Bookmarks from HTML.

  4. Select your exported Edge favorites.html and click Open.

C. Microsoft Edge (New Installation or Different PC)

  1. Open Edge on the target device.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) → FavoritesImport favorites.

  3. Choose Favorites or bookmarks HTML file.

  4. Click Choose File, select the favorites.html file, and click Open.

Tips

  • If you use a Microsoft account with Edge and sync is turned on, you may not need to export/import—your favorites will appear automatically on other devices when you sign in.

  • Always keep a backup of your favorites.html file in case you need to re-import later.
