Setting Up MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) on Office 365

Recent reports have shown that email accounts can be compromised through phishing or credential leaks. Once accessed, attackers can:

  • Send unauthorized emails
  • Redirect or delete incoming messages
  • Access sensitive company information

Enabling MFA significantly reduces this risk by ensuring that only the rightful user can access the account.

How to Set Up Microsoft Authenticator

Step 1: Install the App

  1. Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  2. Search for Microsoft Authenticator
  3. Download and install the application

Step 2: Enable MFA on Your Account

  1. Log in to your Microsoft 365 account
  2. Go to: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
  3. Follow the prompts to set up MFA
  4. When prompted, choose Microsoft Authenticator app as your verification method

  1. Scan the QR code using the Authenticator app
  2. Approve the test notification to complete setup

Step 3: Verification

  • Once completed, you will be required to approve a notification or enter a code from the app each time you log in.
